AI With Receipts: Teaching Students to Use AI Critically, Transparently, and Responsibly in Writing In-Person / Online
As AI becomes an integral part of student writing, educators must teach its ethical and effective use. This session introduces a practical instructional model that integrates AI through an information literacy framework emphasizing critical thinking, transparency, and academic accountability. Participants will explore strategies for AI disclosure, source evaluation, guided AI integration, and reflective self-assessment that promote responsible AI use while strengthening students’ independent writing and ownership of their work.
Learning Outcomes: Apply a structured model for integrating AI responsibly into writing instruction. Implement AI transparency and accountability practices in the classroom. Use self-assessment/peer review strategies to strengthen student ownership of writing. Promote information literacy through critical evaluation of AI-generated content.
