Receipts or Deceits? A Business Communication Game Inspired by The Traitors Online

In this interactive, game-based session inspired by The Traitors, participants step into a workplace scenario where communication decisions carry real consequences. Players will explore workplace communication scenarios with information presented from team members that acted as either “Faithful” team members—committed to accurate, ethical communication—or “Traitors” who strategically introduce misleading data, weak evidence, or biased claims. Through simulated workplace challenges—such as pitching ideas, analyzing reports, and responding to emails—participants must evaluate information, defend decisions with credible “receipts,” and identify communication that lacks evidence or misrepresents data. The session highlights how information literacy directly impacts professional credibility, decision-making, and organizational trust. The twist? The skills that win the game—evaluating sources, questioning data, demanding evidence—are the same ones that drive credibility and sound decision-making in real professional life. You'll leave with sharper instincts for recognizing when professional communication is missing its receipts, and the confidence to ask for them.

Learning Outcomes: Evaluate the credibility of information used in professional communication. Distinguish between strong, evidence-based messaging and unsupported or misleading claims. Apply information literacy skills to workplace scenarios involving data and decision-making. Identify how bias, selective data use, and persuasive tactics can distort professional communication. Strengthen their ability to support claims with clear, credible “receipts”
