Approaching Academic Research: A Student Perspective Online
In this session, students from the Montgomery Scholars honors program will discuss how they approached a major, multi-disciplinary academic research project that requires them to use scholarly sources from several fields. They will discuss starting points, strategies, roadblocks, and accomplishments as they shed light on what the research process looks like for a serious academic project. Professors Michelle Moran and Rebecca Eggenschwiler will moderate the discussion.
Learning Outcomes: Attendees will learn about scholarly sources, locating scholarly sources, reading scholarly sources, applying information found in scholarly sources, and interacting with academic voices in an authentic way. We hope they will be inspired to apply the strategies to their own academic research.
