Critical thinking is essential to good problem-solving, decision-making, and success. It is not the same as “thinking” and does not come naturally. It is hard work to overcome our patterns and habits. Discuss what critical thinking is and develop an awareness of various ways you can determine you have good reasons for your beliefs and decisions. Outcomes: Upon completion of this session, you will be able to:
- Define critical thinking
- Recognize the difference between correlation and causation
- Identify at least two universal intellectual standards that help to assess our thinking
- Use the RED model to think critically
- Recognize mind traps
