“If It’s in a Chart, It Must be True, Right?” Online
We live in a world overflowing with charts, graphs, and infographics—but can we trust what we see? Based on Alberto Cairo’s eye-opening book How Charts Lie, this workshop explores how visual data can mislead us, even when the numbers are correct.
Learning Outcomes: Participants will learn to read charts with a critical eye by examining how scale, axis manipulation, design choices, and missing context can distort the truth. This session empowers students, faculty, and staff to interpret visual information more accurately and ask better questions about the data we consume every day.
