Crafting Inclusive Research Questions In-Person

How we frame research questions shapes the kinds of knowledge we create. This interactive workshop invites participants to explore how principles of diversity, equity, and inclusion (DEI) can strengthen the research process. Through guided activities, small-group collaboration, and hands-on practice, participants will learn strategies for developing research questions that highlight underrepresented perspectives, address systemic inequities, and lead to more meaningful scholarly inquiry.

Learning Outcomes: By the end of this workshop, participants will be able to: 1. Analyze examples of research questions to identify how inclusivity and DEI principles are reflected (or overlooked) in scholarly inquiry. 2. Develop and refine research questions using a structured framework to ensure specificity, inclusivity, and feasibility. 3. Apply critical reflection to evaluate how their own research questions can promote equity and broaden representation in research contexts.
